A5. Technology

All candidates in all teaching programs, at the initial and advanced levels, are required to take a course in their program of study that focuses on the integration of technology with a variety of software and applications appropriate for standards-based instruction in K-12 classroom settings.  Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can appropriately apply technology tools to plan and execute lessons, which enhance learning.

Undergraduate (Initial)
CURR 285, Application of Instructional:  Media and Technology provides basic technical and planning skills to prepare candidates to enhance the instruction of any subject in the comprehensive curriculum.

MAT
EDFN 524, Utilization of Instructional Technologies: prepares candidates at the advanced level with an overview of the selection, organization, and integration of technology-based instruction materials, computer software, and computer hardware settings into instructional settings.

M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction
CURR 518, Education in the Information Age: This course broadly explores technologies that are being developed or applied as educational tools and applications and prepares students for implementation and best practices relating to the application of instructional technology in a variety of situations, particularly in libraries, instructional resource centers, industrial training programs, and instructional settings.

Both courses identify strategies and technologies to accommodate students with special needs using assistive technology.
